Dr. Blaine Fisher embodies the essence of a modern-day polymath, seamlessly integrating expertise across a multitude of disciplines.

Dr. Fisher holds a Ph.D. in Geography and Anthropology from Louisiana State University, where his research focused on Maya Archaeology. His academic credentials are further complemented by a Bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, a Master’s in Healthcare Management from the University of New Orleans, a Master’s in Liberal Arts from Tulane University, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Tulane University. This extensive academic portfolio reflects Dr. Fisher’s commitment to continuous learning and his wide-ranging intellectual curiosity.

At Tulane University, Dr. Fisher is a pivotal figure, wearing multiple hats with distinction. As an administrator for the Canvas Learning Management System, he is instrumental in enhancing the educational technology infrastructure. In his role at the Innovative Learning Center, Dr. Fisher is a key contributor to instructional technology, providing guidance and support to faculty in integrating innovative teaching practices. Additionally, he imparts his extensive knowledge as a professor, teaching subjects that span from Emergency Management to Information Technology. His role as a Remote Sensing and Geospatial Scientist for Tulane’s River Science and Coastal Engineering Department further underscores his versatility and expertise.

Dr. Fisher’s professional journey is marked by a diverse and accomplished career trajectory. Before transitioning into academia, he served as a paramedic, where he gained invaluable experience in emergency response and healthcare. His career then expanded into environmental health and safety compliance, showcasing his ability to adapt and excel in various fields.

Beyond his academic and professional responsibilities, Dr. Fisher is actively involved in coastal restoration projects and archaeological excavations of ancient Maya sites, blending his scientific acumen with a passion for preserving cultural heritage. His dedication to education is evident in his efforts to train over 2,000 faculty members and lead teams of student workers in advancing classroom technology at Tulane.
