Christina Kahr

Christina Kahr teaches Latin American History at SoPA.  She has also taught at Nicholls State University, Loyola College in Baltimore, and Our Lady of Holy Cross.  She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Certificate in Latin American Studies at Georgetown University and a Master of Arts in History and Women’s Studies from Stony Brook University.  Her doctoral dissertation is devoted to women’s political participation in the Peronist movement.

Ms. Kahr is Executive Director of The Pro Bono Project, where she is responsible for the overall administration of the organization’s activities. Working closely with the board of directors, staff, and community partners, she oversees Louisiana’s largest pro bono organization, which provides civil legal aid to underserved residents of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Washington, St. Tammany, and Plaquemines parishes through the recruitment, training and mentoring of over 1,500 volunteer attorneys, law students, and private citizens.
 
What are your favorite activities when you are not working?
I am a devoted traveler and love exploring new places with my husband, Brent. We are also devoted to all things New Orleans and are co-captains in the Krewe of Tucks.
 
What's the first career you dreamed of having as a child?
I always dreamed of being a teacher.
 
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I have been fortunate to travel throughout South and Central America, Europe, and the United States. Africa is on my bucket list!
