Edna Hoff

Edna Hoff is the Executive Assistant to the Dean of SoPA, handling the dean’s calendar, full-time faculty and staff hiring, and assisting with day-to-day operations and coordinating meetings and special events.
 
She grew up in Manila, Philippines and settled in Michigan before finding her way to New Orleans, where she lives with her husband and their two children. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
 
What is your favorite thing about SoPA?
Two things:  the people and the mission. I love working with people who are passionate about the population SoPA serves which is working adults. Although Commencement can be daunting and hectic because of all the preparation leading up to it, seeing the proud faces of our graduates and their families validates who we are and what we do.
 
What advice would you give to someone who's considering finishing their degree, or starting for the first time as an adult?
No one is too old to go back to school. Whether it's to finish a degree or to pursue an interest for personal enhancement, there is no age limit to learning and furthering one's education.
 
What is your favorite app and why?
Others can keep their FB, Instagram and Twitter. I love Sam's Club's Scan and Go. I hate standing in line so anything that allows me to pile things in my cart, scan and pay for them online, and leave in record time is a godsend. I still worry that I'd get tackled when I just breeze past the cash registers.
