Jordan Blazo

Dr. Blazo is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Professional Advancement teaching Sport and Exercise Psychology. He is interested in studying family and child relationships in physical activity contexts. Specifically, he focuses on studying the ways that sibling influence and shape one another’s physical activity experiences. Currently, he is investigating the role of siblings in developing perceptions of ability in sport and the correlates of sibling relationship qualities in sport. Most recently, he has partnered with the Aspen Institute and TeamSnap to understand the landscape of youth sport in North America.

In addition to his research pursuits, Jordan has worked with athletes, teams, and coaches on mental conditioning for performance enhancement at the youth and collegiate levels. Example topics have included: mental toughness, confidence, performance anxiety, team building, leadership development, and motivation.

Dr. Blazo earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Michigan State University with a specialization in coaching. Next, Dr. Blazo earned his master’s degree in Applied Sport Psychology from Georgia Southern University. And finally, Dr. Blazo earned his Ph.D. in the Psychosocial Aspects of Sport and Physical Activity from Michigan State University.
