Mark Dupuis

Mark Dupuis currently serves as the Chief of Security and Emergency Preparedness for Ochsner Health System.

Mr. Dupuis retired from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in 2013.   His 30+ year career with JPSO included leadership positions in a wide array of investigative and field assignments. Of note, Mr. Dupuis served as the Deputy Incident Commander of the law enforcement response for Hurricane Katrina.   He also served as a Commanding Officer of both the First and Second Patrol Districts of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

As an Louisiana licensed attorney, Mr. Dupuis has his own private civil law practice.  He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, The Louisiana Bar Association and the Jefferson Bar Association.

Mr. Dupuis holds both a Bachelor of Criminal Justice Degree and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University, New Orleans.

What advice would you give to someone who's considering finishing their degree, or starting for the first time as an adult?
It is never too late to pursue an education. As a former adult student myself, I felt well prepared and mature to take on both an undergraduate degree as well as a law degree. It's something you will not regret and something you can be proud of.

What's the first career you dreamed of having as a child?
The first career I dreamed of as a child was to be a motorcycle police officer. I fulfilled this dream by rising through the ranks and becoming commander of the motorcycle unit for my department.

What are your favorite activities when you are not working?
I love spending time and traveling with my family.
