Biography

Dr. McCall is an Instructional Designer and Training Specialist for the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS, supporting online education.  She has been an adjunct instructor with Tulane SoPA since 2011, teaching a variety of courses-- primarily Writing in the Workplace.  After spending 20+ years in management in Fortune 500 companies, she decided to pursue a Ph.D. in instructional design and human performance at the University of South Alabama.  After graduation in 2016, she accepted a position with Mississippi College in Clinton, MS, where she supported faculty with the development and teaching of online courses, helping launch five new degree programs there before joining Ole Miss.  

Having earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from the University of Southern Mississippi, Dr. McCall has been a member of the adjunct faculty of several area institutions, including the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of South Alabama, and Mississippi College, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in composition, American Literature, and educational technology.

Her passion for online education inspired her to become a nationally certified reviewer and instructor with the Quality Matters organization.  In addition to participating in Quality Matters reviews, she also consults with clients to offer custom instructional design services.  A frequent presenter at regional and national conferences, Dr. McCall champions the use of evidence-based practices in the field of online education.

What advice would you give to someone who's considering finishing their degree, or starting for the first time as an adult?
It is never too late!

What are your favorite activities when you are not working?
Walking my mini-schnauzer and birdwatching.
