Biography
Patrick Messmer is the Director of Public Safety at Audubon Nature Institute. Under his purview, he leads the Security and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) teams, manages Workers' Compensation claims, and heads the Downtown Safety Committee. As a director for each of Audubon's four campuses and family of parks and museums, Patrick's role as a steward for public space has him engaging with the public on a daily basis.
Outside of Audubon Nature Institute, Patrick has continuous experience within EMS since 2016 with his current role as a Paramedic. Patrick has had many other opportunities and roles during his time in EMS including Disaster Response, Emergency Dispatcher, Field Training Officer, and Educator.
With a desire to give back, Patrick used his experience with EMS to teach others entering the field. He taught for 3 years at Delgado Community College, including the EMT class and CPR for all Allied Health divisions.
Growing up in New Orleans, Patrick is excited to now be a part of the Tulane family. Patrick graduated in May 2024 with a major in Homeland Security Studies and as a Tulane 34 Recipient.
