Biography
Susan is the President of Demeter Logistics in Louisville, Kentucky. Demeter is facilitating digitization of logistics in the commodities trades to help market participants unlock greater value. Demeter is an affiliate of Engine No. 1, which is an investment firm purpose-built to create long-term value by driving positive impact. Engine No. 1 believes a company’s performance is greatly enhanced by the investments it makes in its employees, customers, communities, and the environment.
Prior to her role at Demeter, Susan was COO of EdjAnalytics, leading a team to use data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence to help companies and organizations drive decision making using insights from data. She was previous Managing Director of three divisions at Genscape, responsible for leading business, new product development, strategic initiatives and operations. During her tenure at Genscape, she co-invented six patents for technologies that produced market insights. Other roles include fuel control design for the Joint Strike Fighter with Honeywell Aerospace and research for the U.S. Navy and NASA Ames Research Center.
The common thread and passion through her career is developing new solutions from data and technology.
She received her Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Notre Dame in Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Evansville. She serves on the board of Young Authors Greenhouse, which helps young authors find the power of their voices through writing.
