Marine Corps College of Distance Education (CDE) Partnership

Marine Corps CDE

Tulane University School of Professional Advancement is proud to partner with the Marine Corps College of Distance Education (CDE). This partnership assists active-duty, Reserve Marines, sister service members, government civilians, and retired military with graduate course-level credit hours and discount scholarship.

  • Graduates of CDET will have the opportunity to receive nine Tulane SoPA graduate course-level hours to apply toward either a Master of Professional Studies in Homeland Security Studies, or a Master of Professional Studies in Emergency Management. Homeland Security Studies focus on securing and maintaining the safety of U.S. residents through practical applications of critical infrastructure, intelligence analysis, threat analysis, and cyber security. The Emergency Management degree prepares professionals to mitigate, respond to, and recover from potential and actual natural disaster, manmade disasters, and acts of terrorism.
  • CDET graduates seeking either MPS degree may receive credit toward ESSC 6001: Introduction to Emergency Management and ESSC 6018: Approaches to Counter-Terrorism. CDET CSCDEP graduates seeking an MPS in Homeland Security Studies may receive credit toward ESSC 6006: Intelligence Analysis and Critical Thinking, and those seeking an MPS in Emergency Management would receive credit toward ESSC 6009: Emergency Planning.
  • A 20 percent discount scholarship which allows the Marine Corps, sister services, Guard/reserve, and veterans to earn a degree from a prestigious institution at an affordable price.

Partnership Benefits

  • Save time and money: Admitted applicants can transfer 9 credit hours, a savings of over $9,000.
  • Accelerate your career: SoPA's program faculty are either currently active in or have extensive backgrounds in homeland and emergency security.
  • Flexibility to earn your master’s degree from anywhere: Our programs are designed with your work schedule and busy home life in mind. Courses are 100% online and combine synchronous and asynchronous elements.
